Spun out of the French robotics lab LIRMM, Acusurgical develops LUCA, a telemanipulated robotic system with two arms and up to 10 µm precision for full vitreoretinal procedures such as vitrectomy. First-in-human results (six patients, vitrectomy for macular pathology) were presented at the 2025 Retina World Congress with no device-related adverse events; a European trial (NCT06294613) is recruiting for macular pucker surgery.
